It all sounds great fun but having magical powers brings serious responsibilities when Glubbslyme encourages her to be as bad as her 17th-century namesake, the wicked witch, Rebecca Cockgoldde. Jacqueline Wilson's skillfull portrayal of the growing friendship between the bad tempered, pedantic, vain toad and the imaginative, lonely young girl is funny, wise and reassuring.
